Every country needs demographic data of its residents for the purpose of planning, monitoring, development and improvement of quality of life. Good planning and monitoring is based on reliable, up-to-date, accurate and detailed information on the state of society in the country in order to solve the existing problem. Demographic data is a data that is statistically collected about the characteristics of the population, e.g age, gender, religion, culture, income status, educational attainment etc. The major problem with collection of patient data in NAUTH includes, poor service condition, inadequate data, inadequate staff etc. The aim of this research is to examine the effects of demographic data in planning and monitoring of health services in NAUTH. Specific objectives includes to: find out the factors that affects demographic data collection; ascertain the level of demographic awareness and its impacts; examine how demographic data can help in knowing the mortality and fertility rate; show how demographic data can help health sector in controlling epidemic diseases; show how demographic data can help in monitoring and planning of health services in NAUTH.
