ASSESSMENT OF KNOWLEDGE AND PRACTICE OF HEALTH INFORMATION MANAGEMENT AS FACTORS CONTRIBUTING TO QUALITY HEALTHCARE DELIVERY IN SOUTH EAST NIGERIA

This work examines the Assessment of knowledge and practice of health information management as factors contributing to quality healthcare delivery in south east Nigeria. Its specific objectives include: to evaluate how the knowledge and practice of health information management contribute to quality health care delivery in Nigeria and to find out the factors militating against the efficient and effective health information management, and equally to proffer solutions to those militating factors.

Simple percentage count was used to analyze the data from 205 health workers of the two (2) surveyed institutions in South east Nigeria. Its findings show that the challenges of proper health information management in the surveyed institutions include inadequate funding, inadequate computer and other ICT facilities, presence of quacks in the field of health information management etc.
